Standing at 14,162 ft., on the summit can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. Shasta
is located in northern CA, 60 miles north of Redding. Shasta is the 2nd highest of the Cascade
volcanoes and one of the world's most impressive stratovolcanoes containing 5 glaciers and4
distinct cones. According to legend (1891), a Spanish explorer reported that while climbing
Mt. Diablo near San Francisco, he saw Mt. Shasta. He called it "Jesus & Maria" because of the double
peaks. Mt. Shasta was constructed during a period of more than 100,00 years. Its only known
historic eruption was in 1786.
