Shasta

Standing at 14,162 ft., on the summit can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. Shasta is located  in northern CA, 60 miles north of Redding. Shasta is the 2nd highest of the Cascade volcanoes and one of the world's most  impressive stratovolcanoes containing 5 glaciers and4 distinct cones. According to legend (1891), a Spanish explorer reported  that while climbing Mt. Diablo near San Francisco, he saw Mt. Shasta. He called it "Jesus & Maria" because of the double peaks.  Mt. Shasta was constructed during a period of more than 100,00 years. Its only known historic eruption was in 1786.
